The 3M Scotch 23 Rubber Splicing Tape (19mm x 9.1m) is a premium-grade, 30-mil thick, highly conformable self-fusing ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) high-voltage tape. Designed for primary electrical insulation, cable splicing, and termination up to 69 kV, this non-vulcanising tape fuses into a homogeneous, void-free rubber mass when stretched and wrapped. It features a special easy-release polyester “snakeskin” liner that will not stick to the tape upon unwind.

Key Features

  • Self-Fusing & Homogeneous: Amalgamates rapidly into a solid, moisture-sealed rubber mass without requiring external heat or vulcanisation.
  • High-Voltage Performance: Excellent physical and electrical properties that remain completely unaffected by the degree of stretch, rated for systems up to 69 kV.
  • Thermal Endurance: Handles continuous operating temperatures up to 90°C and withstands emergency overloads reaching 130°C.
  • Broad Cable Compatibility: Fully compatible with all solid dielectric cable insulations, including cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), high/low-density polyethylene, PVC, butyl rubber, and oil-based rubbers.
  • Environmental Resistance: Highly resistant to splitting, cracking, slipping, and flagging in both indoor and outdoor environments, offering stellar resistance to ozone and weathering.
